If you have obtained a green card through entrepreneurship, you will generally have received a conditional permanent residency, and not the standard permanent green card. To remove the conditions from your green card in this situation and to obtain a permanent green card, you must file USCIS Form I-829 (Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions) 90 days before your conditional green card expires. Once you file the form, your green card status will automatically be extended for six months, until the USCIS can make a decision in your case. Your filing receipt for form I-829 will act as proof of your extended status during this period, if you need to travel or prove your status for any reason.
