Sierra Leone TPS Extension. FY2003 Refugee Admission Numbers

INS Extends Sierra Leone TPS Designation (10/31/02)

The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) has extended Sierra Leone's designation for temporary protected status (TPS), through November 2, 2003. The re-registration period began on October 31, 2002, and will remain in effect through December 30, 2002.

President Determines FY 2003 Refugee Admission Numbers (10/28/02)

President George W. Bush determined on October 16, 2002, that up to 70,000 refugees will be admitted to the U.S. during fiscal year (FY) 2003, to include Amerasian admissions. The Presidential Determination allocated the total as follows: Africa: 20,000; East Asia: 4,000; Eastern Europe: 2,500; former Soviet Union: 14,000; Latin America/Caribbean: 2,500; Near East/South Asia: 7,000; and unallocated reserve: 20,000.
