The I-90 is not as complex as other immigration applications, but, like all immigration applications, making any mistakes could cause your form to be rejected. A rejected application means an even longer processing time. While most green cards expire every 10 years, there are conditional green cards that expire after only two years. Conditional green cards cannot be renewed; instead, you must apply to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.us-immigration.com\/how-to\/remove-conditions-green-card\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\"><u>remove conditions on your residence<\/u><\/span><\/a>. If your 10-year green card is already expired or will expire in the next six months, the USCIS recommends that you renew it. You should only use this application to renew your green card if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have a 10-year green card<\/li>\n<li>It is already expired OR it will expire within the next 6 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have a 2-year conditional green card that is expiring soon, you should NOT file Form I-90 to receive a renewed green card. If your conditional green card is marriage based, you may find yourself eligible to file <a href=\"https:\/\/www.us-immigration.com\/blog\/how-long-does-i-751-take\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\"><u>Form I-751<\/u><\/span><\/a> to remove conditions on your green card. If your conditional green card is investment-based, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.us-immigration.com\/immigration-forms\/form-I-829.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\"><u>Form I-829<\/u><\/span><\/a> should be filed to remove conditions.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><strong>Renew Green Card Online<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is possible to file your I-90 application online with the USCIS. However, the USCIS doesn\u2019t provide much support to help you file correctly. The I-90 application is important and expensive ($540).
