Not having these when stopped by federal law enforcement can lead to a misdemeanor and fines,\u201d CBP warned on X (formerly Twitter).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This rule isn\u2019t new. It\u2019s part of <strong>Section 1304(e) of Title 8 of the U.S. Code<\/strong>, which mandates that all non-citizens aged 18 and above <strong>must carry their registration card<\/strong> (such as a Green Card) at all times.<br>And now, enforcement is being prioritized more strictly than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>No Room for Error: DHS Cracks Down on Non-Compliance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is making one thing clear\u2014non-citizens must follow the law to the letter. DHS Director Kristi Noem emphasized:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere will be no sanctuary for non-compliance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even U.S. Vice President JD Vance echoed this sentiment, stating that <strong>permanent residency is not a guaranteed right<\/strong> and <strong>green card holders can be deported at the administration\u2019s discretion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s a stark reminder: no matter how long you\u2019ve lived in the U.S., unless you are a <strong>citizen<\/strong>, your future in the country can be uncertain. An expired Green Card could also create issues.
