Trump and Bill Clinton share immigration stance, Carson says

The stance taken by Donald Trump on the issue of immigration is the same as that taken by Clinton. Bill Clinton, that is. This is according to Trump backer and former Republican Presidential candidate, Dr Bill Carson. In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Carson said that the State of the Union speech made in 1995 by then President, Bill Clinton included him pledging to improve border security and crack down on undocumented immigrants, while admitting that Americans were right to be disturbed by the large numbers of such immigrants entering the US.

Carson claimed that Clinton said the same things currently proposed by the controversial Republican Presidential candidate. This includes making it harder for undocumented immigrants to find work in the US and to cut off benefits, for which Carson received a standing ovation. Carson said that the Democratic critics slamming Trump for ‘hate speech’ are an example of ‘incredible hypocrisy’.

Trump wants to build a wall on the border between the US and Mexico, end the so-called ‘sanctuary cities’, and deport millions of criminal undocumented immigrants. Democratic Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, wants to see comprehensive immigration reform, giving undocumented immigrants the chance to get on a path to US citizenship.

Labor Secretary, Tom Perez, claims that Carson’s comparisons between Trump and Bill Clinton are misplaced. He accused the Republican candidate of being against the Latino community and incapable of producing an outreach strategy for either that demographic or the African-American community.
