Trump Slams Immigration Laws

Trump slams immigration lawsPresident Donald Trump slammed the immigration laws of the US and revisited comments made during his election campaign about criminals from Mexico during a speech on Thursday, which was intended to concern tax law. Republicans had hoped that the law, which will see a tax cut for the majority of American families, would ensure their victory in the midterm elections in November. But, the President’s speech spent more time on immigration law and immigrants.

Trump again slammed the policy that grants automatic US citizenship to the babies of undocumented immigrants that are born in the US. He said no other country in the world uses such a policy, while also attacking ‘catch and release’ border rules, which enable undocumented immigrants to go free after being granted a court date, claiming that none of them are ever seen again.

Trump said that the military would build part of his proposed border wall between the US and Mexico, a comment clarified by Pentagon spokeswoman, Dana White. She revealed at a Thursday briefing that the military may improve a fence on a bombing range on the border.

Trump also used the speech to again criticize Oakland Mayor, Libby Schaaf, who issued undocumented immigrants in her city with a warning of an immigration enforcement action, which the President said was essentially obstruction of justice. Trump admitted that his speech was supposed to be different but called the original idea ‘boring’.
