Trump Vows to Issue New Immigration Order

Trump vows to issue new immigration orderPresident Donald Trump is preparing to issue a new executive order, clamping down on refugees and immigrants in an attempt to reinstall his signature policy after it was suspended by the courts, following numerous protests. At present, it is unclear what the precise wording of the new order will be, but its intention will be to get around a decision made by a Seattle court, which blocked Trump’s prior executive action, banning immigrants from seven nations from coming into the US.

On Saturday night, Trump told thousands of his supporters that they could expect a new executive order over the next few days. He added that he and his administration had no intention of giving up on his commitment to improving national security in the US.

The new executive order is one of the President’s major priorities for the coming week, following strategy meetings, media attacks, and a weekend spent in front of adoring crowds. The White House is also contemplating a massive expansion of the number of deportations of refugees and undocumented immigrants, according to draft memos obtained by the media but which have not yet been sent to immigration authorities.

Trump has already expanded the number of immigrants who can be targeted for deportation by the US government. Last month, he instructed immigration officers to target undocumented immigrants suspected of, or charged with, crimes, even if they had not yet been found guilty in court.
