I-929, Petition for Qualifying Family Member of a U-1 Nonimmigrant

In the US, victims of crime can apply for U nonimmigrant status, which grants temporary immigrant benefits to the victims of serious crime. The status is intended to make sure that victims of crimes come forward to report crimes and help police in solving crimes. Even undocumented immigrants may qualify for U nonimmigrant status. In some cases, a victim may apply for immigration benefits on behalf of a family member. This is done in cases where a victim of a serious crime wishes to have family support in the US or in cases where the victim is living with family in the US and wishes to extend benefits to their family. This can be done by filing I-929 (Petition for Qualifying Family Member of a U-1 Nonimmigrant).
