If you are in the US temporarily but are eligible to work under the terms of your visa, you will need an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) to prove to employers that you are eligible to work in the US. You can obtain your EAD document by filing USCIS Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization). This form is only for use for people who are already eligible and authorized to work in the US without any restrictions; filing this form will not give you authority to work in the United States if you do not already have the authority. If you are not authorized to work in the US, you may need to file a petition for a type of visa that does permit you to work in the US.
Number of pages of the form: 12 (form is 1 page, instructions are 11 pages); Spouses of E-2 CNMI Investors as well as foreign students and asylum applicants have special instructions for this form.
