Celebrate the Birthday of America on the 4th of July

Celebrate the Birthday of America on the 4th of JulyOur country’s independence from England was declared more than 200 years ago by our Founding Fathers. Natural-born citizens and those who naturalize as U.S. citizens swear to support and defend the Constitution and laws of the U.S.

Every year, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) conducts special naturalization ceremonies around Independence Day and give an opportunity to a lot of immigrants to become citizens of the country.

A special naturalization ceremony will be hosted for immigrant service members on July 4th at the White House. President Obama stated that these service members have already signed up to serve the country, though they were not yet Americans. He will honor them by naturalizing them at the White House. These service members will celebrate this Independence Day as American citizens.

9000 green card holders will celebrate this Independence Day as new U.S. citizens. Many in the U.S. are still waiting for an opportunity to receive their citizenship and become a part of this great nation. Millions of undocumented immigrants who are contributing to the country are waiting for the U.S. Congress to pass immigration reform. They believe that they will get a chance to apply for citizenship if a reform bill is passed.

President Obama stated that on the 4th of July, the country does not only celebrate its independence but also the other things that make America a great nation. According to the President, one of the things that make the country great is that it is a nation of immigrants. People from every corner of the globe come here and settle here and this makes America special and unique.

As true citizens of the country, it is the duty of the Americans to help it flourish and honor the Founding Fathers. It is also mandatory to stand up for what is right for our country.

4th of July has now become a major focus of leisure activities involving fireworks, picnics and family get-togethers. For many, Independence Day is just like another day, but this day honors the birthday of the country. Citizens of the country need to be reminded of the reason why they celebrate this day and honor this day. This day is not only an important federal holiday but also remains as a symbol of patriotism.
