Fees for US Immigrant and Nonimmigrant Visa Services (Updated 2019)

Citizens of foreign countries who wish to travel to the U.S. must obtain a visa which will allow them to enter, leave or stay in the U.S. for a specific time period. Your visa will be placed in your passport issued by your country of citizenship.

Fees for Nonimmigrant Visa Services

If you are coming to the U.S. as a temporary visitor, you will have to apply for and get a nonimmigrant visa. Nonimmigrant visas are for those who wish to stay in the U.S. temporarily. This applies to those coming here as tourists, for business and to temporary workers.

All visa applicants must pay the visa application processing fees, unless the fee is not required. There are different types of nonimmigrant visas and the fees are different for these different categories.

Nonimmigrant visa application fee is not required for the following applicants.

  • A, G, C-2, C-3, NATO and diplomatic visa applicants
  • J visa applicants participating in government sponsored educational and cultural exchange programs.
  • Applicants traveling to the U.S. to provide charitable services.
  • U.S. government employees traveling on official business.
  • Applicants whose visas were not properly affixed or applicants for whom visas need to be reissued through no fault on them.
  • Parents, siblings, spouses or children of U.S. Government employees need not pay the visa fees if they are traveling to the U.S. to attend the employee’s funeral or to visit the government employee who was critically injured in the line of duty.

Fees for Immigrant Visa Services

Similar to the fees for nonimmigrant visa services, immigrant visa fees also depend on the category you apply for. You will need to pay the visa application processing fee for the particular immigrant visa category you are applying for.

Filing an Immigrant Visa Petition

Immigrant petition for alien relative (I-130) $535.00
Orphan (intercountry adoption) immediate relative petition  (I-600, I-800) $775.00

 Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fees

Immediate relative and family preference applications (processed based on an approved Form I-130, Form I-600 or Form I-800) $325.00

 

Employment-based applications (processed based on an approved Form I-140 or Form I-526) $345.00
Other immigrant visa applications (this includes approved I-360 self-petitioners, special immigrant visa applicants, returning resident (SB-1) applicants, and all others. This does not include DV program selectees.) $205.00
