The RAISE Act May Put a Permanent End to the Green Card Lottery Program

Lots of talk has been circulating in the U.S. government about reforming the immigration system and putting the Green Card Lottery on the chopping block.

Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue proposed the RAISE (Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy) Act in early February which would put an end to the Green Card Lottery. On August 2, 2017, President Trump and Senator Perdue announced a new version of it.

The bill aims to prioritize skilled workers over unskilled workers and to promote merit-based over family-based immigration. Similar to the systems used by Canada and Australia, it would reward education, the ability of the English-language, past achievements and entrepreneurial spirit.

Most importantly, the bill “would eliminate the outdated Diversity Visa lottery system, which serves questionable economic and humanitarian interests.”

It is highly unlikely that the United States Congress will be able to organize a plan to be implemented by the end of this year, meaning that there is at least one last chance to become an American Permanent Resident!

The relatively few requirements for entry into the Green Card Lottery make it one of the most desirable immigration programs ever created.

The Green Card Lottery is an excellent opportunity for people to immigrate to the United States quickly and easily, and USAGreenCardLottery.org can help in this endeavor.
