Trump campaign gains confidence after recent polls

On Sunday, top officials in the Trump campaign declared they were optimistic about the numbers in recent polls. This comes in the wake of the fallout from the Hillary Clinton campaign, following her investigation by the FBI over deleted emails. The Trump officials defended the immigration plan proposed by the Republican Presidential candidate, as the race for the White House prepares to intensify.

In an interview with This Week on ABC, the Trump campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, said that polling data tells the real story. She added that the American people are having a difficult time accepting Hillary Clinton as an honest and truthful candidate. Poll numbers for the Democratic Presidential candidate have fallen in recently, following the email scandal and revelations of connections between the State Department and donors to the Clinton Foundation.

Last month, Clinton was ahead of Donald Trump in the RealClearPolitics poll average by eight percent, but that has now fallen to four percent. The billionaire appears to be lagging further behind in key states such as Pennsylvania and Ohio. Conway dismissed the idea that Trump cannot win the Presidency if he loses in Pennsylvania but admits that they take the state seriously.

The Trump campaign also faced many questions on Sunday about the immigration plan touted by the real estate magnet. Critics have alleged this it is too vague about undocumented immigrants with no other criminal offences. Trump’s running mate, Governor Mike Pence, insisted that the plan was understood by voters, if not by the media.
